the members of Reuse the Igloo have been joining forces to try changing the plans for tearing down the Mellon Arena. The project is a spin-off of Preservation Pittsburgh, a group dedicated to preserving the local history, architecture, heritage and Pittsburgh culture overall.

i can get behind this, you should too

i get that we (both the city of pittsburgh and the state of pennsylvania, as well as, hey, the whole damn country) are in a financial crisis, but as a huge fan of adaptive reuse from both an intellectual and an emotional standpoint, i wholeheartedly support this movement.
